Two municipalities share the name, the City of Langley and the much larger Township of Langley, and we install in both. Every system is designed to the building and the property it sits on.

The photo shows one of our Langley Township installs, with panels split across two roof sections of the house. Splitting an array across roof faces is common on newer homes with complex rooflines, and it is where microinverters earn their place: each panel works on its own, so two faces with different sun still perform.
Langley jobs also tend to involve more space. A detached garage, a shop or a barn can carry panels where the house roof is shaded or awkward, and the design follows whichever roof gives the best return.

Colder snaps and more snow
Langley sits further up the Fraser Valley than Vancouver, so it tends to see colder snaps and more snow in a typical winter. Systems in BC are engineered for the snow load of the area they are installed in, and panels shed snow far better than shingles do.
City or Township
The City of Langley and the Township of Langley are separate municipalities with their own building departments. We confirm which one covers your address and what it requires before the install date is set, and we handle the electrical permit and inspection.
Room to choose the best roof
On an acreage the house is rarely the only option. We compare the house, garage, shop and barn roofs for orientation, shading and distance to the electrical service, then put the panels where they produce the most.
Fastened into the structure
Barns and shops are often metal, which takes clamp on racking with no penetrations. On shingle roofs we bolt through flashings into the rafters, with three layers of waterproofing at every footing.
Rebates for Langley homes and farms
Langley homeowners qualify for the BC Hydro rebate: $1,000 per kW of installed solar, up to $5,000, plus $500 per kWh of battery storage, up to $5,000 with Peak Saver enrolment. Each is capped at 50% of the installed cost.
For farms and businesses run as taxable Canadian corporations, the 30% refundable clean technology investment tax credit and the 100% first year write off on Class 43.1 equipment can stack on top. Solar panels and inverters are PST exempt either way.

Often that is the best roof on the property. Long, simple barn and shop roofs suit solar well, and metal roofs can take clamp on racking with no holes. We check the structure and the distance back to your electrical service first.

No. Systems in BC are engineered for the snow load where they are installed, panels shed snow better than shingles, and if they do get covered there is nothing to do but wait for it to slide off.

Can a battery keep my well pump and freezers running in a Langley outage?
Yes, if the system is a hybrid with a transfer switch and the battery is sized for those loads. We either back up the whole house with automatic load shedding, or pull the essentials, well pump, freezers, furnace fan and internet, into a critical load subpanel.
What happens to the extra power my Langley system makes?
Under BC Hydro self generation service, exported surplus is credited at 10 cents per kWh every billing cycle. Power used on site offsets 11.87 to 14.08 cents, which favours farms and households that use most of their power in daylight.
